Relocating to Houston

The Houston Metropolitan Area is a vast, sprawling area that encompasses enclaves of communities with their own distinct personalities. Houston proper is where urban living meets quaint southern charm. As a bustling waterfront community, Houston possesses tremendous attraction for commercial as well as residential development and expansion.

Climate

The climate allows Houstonians to take advantage of the many outdoor recreation opportunities within the city, such as a canoe tour of downtown on Buffalo Bayou, or enjoying family time in its many parks and recreational areas. Though the temperatures don’t vary as severely as in some parts of the country, Houston’s coldest month is January with an average low of 45 degrees Fahrenheit and July is Houston’s hottest month with an average high of 94 degrees Fahrenheit.

On average, the Houston area sees of 54 inches of rain, which is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year.  That allows for over 200 sunny days to enjoy outdoor activities, and a very long growing season for your favorite flowers.

Education

As a commitment, Houston’s communities and its educators are dedicated to working together to create the highest quality educational environment for students in its public schools as well as its private and parochial schools. Houston has more than 40 colleges, universities, and institutions of higher education.

Demographics

Houston’s median household income is $61,000 and the city boasts of a very low unemployment rate of 2.3%. Forty-three percent of Houstonians own their own homes. The leading industry in Houston is the air and space trade with NASA, Lockheed Martin and Boeing making Houston their base. In addition to the air and space industry, Houston’s petrochemical is the second largest industry in the world. The Port of Houston has opened up the city as a center of international commerce, linking Houston with more than 200 countries.
